Junior researcher (doctoral student) in electrical engineering / electric transportation systems
The LUT School of Energy Systems is looking for a junior researcher (doctoral student) to conduct research in the field of electric transportation systems. The employee will be part of a research team at the Electric Drives and Power Electronics Laboratory, and the duties may also include some teaching related to the laboratory’s courses. The position is located at LUT’s Lahti campus (Mukkulankatu), and the research will be conducted in close collaboration with local industry. In addition, international academic collaboration is also possible. The preliminary research topic for this position is future high-power charging solutions for heavy transportation and non-road mobile machinery.
Applicants must have a master’s degree or the equivalent in a relevant field (e.g., electrical engineering, industrial electronics, electrical machines and drives, power electronics), and the ability and motivation to complete the doctoral studies within the normative duration of the studies for the degree (four years). An employment contract can only be concluded if the applicant obtains the right to pursue doctoral studies at LUT University.

Employment relationship and pay
The employment starts with a one-year term including a six-month trial period, and it can be extended by three years provided that the studies have progressed satisfactorily in the first year.
The salary is based on the current collective agreement for Finnish universities. The typical gross annual starting salary for a junior researcher is approximately 30 800 euros (plus a holiday bonus in accordance with the collective agreement). In addition, LUT university pays fees for publications based on a set of criteria.
