Fortum’s Innovation & Venturing unit ensures our renewal through strategic insight into new technologies and business models, high-performance internal and external venturing, as well as building new startups in our Valkea Growth Club. Innovation & Venturing is also responsible for IP strategy and patenting support as well as cooperation with universities and research institutions on behalf of the whole corporate.

We are now looking for a Manager/Analyst Startup Investments to join the Startup Investment and Collaboration team that is responsible for startup investment and divestment and startup collaboration, as well as venture capital fund investments of the Fortum Group. The team’s tasks include sourcing, investing, and collaborating with startups, as well as discussing relevant market analyses and findings with our business units.
In your role as Manager/Analyst Startup Investments, you identify and evaluate startups with the potential to bring strategic value to Fortum. You are responsible for the collaboration with Valo Ventures, including coordination and communication of potential pilot cases. You also assist startups that Fortum has invested in with their growth and value creation. Your day-to-day work will be in close collaboration with the broader Innovation & Venturing team, Valkea’s startups, Fortum’s business units, and key external stakeholders, including our venture capital funds Valo Ventures and Energy Impact Partners.
You will report to the Head of Startup Investment and Collaboration and be based in Espoo, Finland, or Solna, Sweden.
About you
- You have some working experience to demonstrate existing know-how in venture capital investing and preferably also experience in investing pre-seed/seed stage startups
- Ideally, you would also have some corporate M&A or similar experience
- You have a university degree in a relevant field, for example, Economics or Engineering
- You have an analytical mind and the ability to absorb large amounts of complex information, as well as to draw clear conclusions
- You have an entrepreneurial mindset and a proactive way of working
- You have proven excellent communication and presentation skills both externally and internally. Fluency in English is necessary.
